Library Facility
Central Library of the Ramabai Government Women Post Graduate College, Akbarpur, Ambedkar Nagar Uttar Pradesh was established in 1997 to promote knowledge through its effective dissemination of information resources. The College Library is a knowledge and learning centre of the college to supplement education and information needs of the users, students, researchers and faculty members. The library remains open from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. except on Sundays/Holidays, National Holidays, Gazetted Holidays and other holidays declared by the Government of U.P.
Library has rich resources mainly in Humanities-Hindi, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, History, Education, English, Music, Economics, Physical Education, Sciences-Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany & Commerce. The central library of the college is situated in the middle of the college campus on the 1st Floor. At present it has total collection of 13737 books, Journals, Textbooks, Reference books, E-resources, Audio- Visual resources, CDs / DVDs News Papers, Employment News, Magazines etc.
The library has facility of E-library, Internet Wi-Fi for searching e-contents and e-resources, Pre-loaded Tablets and Annual subscription of INFLIBNET N-List. The Users also use the Open E-resource portals like National Digital Library of India (NDLI), Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Digital Library, UGC E-resources and many more.
The Central library has been adapting new technologies of Library Automation by Government of Higher Education Department of Uttar Pradesh & Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyam (RUSA) including RFID system, smart library card self-check in KIOSK library automation with SOFTGRANTH open-source software, e-resources etc for providing web-based information services to the library users. The library has been preparing smart ID cum Library Card for the students and faculty members of the college, which is considered as the best practice of the college. Radio frequency identification RFID along with the Electromagnetic system has been implemented in the library.
Future plan of the library will transform itself into a digital library with digitized text materials to be available to students and faculty members at their desk as and when they desire.
